An Associated Press story that ran today in the Washington Post said that according to a study conducted over the last year, 64% of high school students have cheated on a test and 38% did more than two times. That number is up from 60% the year before. The study, conducted by Josephson Institiute in Los Angeles surveyed 29,760 students at 100 randomly selected high schools nationwide. The students were given the survey during class.
Though 64% of high school students said they cheated, 93% said they were satisfied with their personal ethics and character.
The study didn’t specify cheating.
What do you think? What constitutes cheating though? Is this increasing due to the pressure for competition? Has the attitude changed over the years whether cheating is morally right? Is cheating ok?
